Student Learning Objective: Students will apply skills in creating vector images to create a personal symbol and logotype using their name that represents themselves by sketching, creating variations, and experimenting with color schemes. There are three steps or phases of this project: Part 1: Sketching & Brainstorming
Part 2: Creating variations in Illustrator
Part 3: Create color variations of chosen logo.
Personal logo examplesLearning Objective: Students will manipulate their band poster design so that it can be transferred on to a t-shirt mock up. Take each of your poster designs, and change it so it works as a t-shirt design. (You will design TWO t-shirt designs to reflect your TWO poster designs.)

Learning Objective: Students will participate in the creative process to make a music poster from conception to final print. Students will research band poster design, draw up multiple sketches, and research and practice new Photoshop techniques. Students will create two different music posters. One poster using any kind of imagery that they want, and a second poster focusing solely on typography. How to set up your document Create an 11 x 17 inches music poster. (This is called TABLOID size) You can use whatever program you want, but if working in Photoshop, make sure to set the resolution to 300 and make it an RGB image. You will design TWO different styles of posters. Version 1: Music poster using any kind of imagery you want. Version 2: Create a second poster that is ONLY typographic. This poster should focus on the TYPE as the main area of interest, and you can use elements of art such as lines, shapes, patterns etc. What band/musical artist will you choose? You can design both posters for the band twice, or design two posters for two different bands. You can also create a fake band if you want. All posters must have:

Learning Objective: Students will conduct research about posters and find images, designs, and graphics that they find inspiring. They will analyze posters for their imagery, as well as for their use of typography.
Create an 11 x 17 document LANDSCAPE in Adobe InDesign. Research document #1: Collect 10 + images of t-shirt designs you find inspiring. This will have to go on it's OWN page. Research document #2: Collect 5 + images of poster designs that focus on the TYPOGRAPHY that you find inspiring. Collect 5 + images of poster designs that you find inspiring because of the graphics and imagery used. Write yourself a short note about WHY you chose that image. Make sure your design has a clean, and well organized layout. Milestone Deadline for Music Poster/t-shirt research: End of block day Wednesday, March 7th Learning Objective: Students will participate in the creative process to make a book cover design from conception to final print. Students will research book cover design design, draw up multiple sketches, and practice new Photoshop and Illustrator techniques.
