Learning Objective: Students will create a mini-series of images based on one of the concepts that we covered this year. The series should have a common element or theme that makes it visually cohesive.
Milestone Deadlines: Seniors: Tuesday May 15th (DAY before senior check-out). If you're someone who had an F on the pass/fail day this is a project that could help your grade! Everyone else project is due: Friday, May 18th SERIES EXAMPLES...In Anxious Anticipation: An Unsettling Series of Humorously Suspenseful MomentsThe images capture moments of dread, metaphorical imagery that relates to feelings right before a big move, when we anticipate the worst rather than the best outcome. Surrealism Photography by Ben Zank. Strange juxtapositions, awkward inconveniences, and often the ongoing struggle of life itself are all expressed through his surreal photography. The series creates a story for the viewer to put together. The dog is consistently photoshopped large in every photo and the owner and the dog are interacting in some way. MORE SERIES EXAMPLES....Learning Objective: Students will shoot an array of images using compositional rules that show their understanding of aperture and shutter. Students will then create a poster explaining their work and displaying their knowledge of the content.
FREEZE ACTION -Take photos outside that capture FREEZE ACTION. Try to “capture the moment”. Shoot at the shutter priority mode (S Mode or TV Mode) and sure you are on auto focus. | |Make sure your shutter speed is above 1/125th of a second. MOTION BLUR -Take action photos trying to capture MOTION BLUR. Try to “capture the moment”. Make sure your shutter speed is 1/30th or below for more blur. You might need to use a tripod to make sure stationary SHALLOW DEPTH OF FIELD When the subject is in focus and the background is blurry You will use a large size aperture (a smaller number) such as f/4 Shoot in "A Mode" or "AV Mode" LONG DEPTH OF FIELD When everything is in the frame is in focus. You will use a small size aperture (a larger number) such as f/22 Shoot in "A Mode" or "AV Mode" PART II: CREATE A VISUAL POSTERDisplay your understanding of aperture and shutter on a poster using Adobe InDesign. Create a document that is 11 x 17 landscape orientation in Adobe InDesign.
Poster must have a cohesive look to its design. Think about color, fonts, and type size. EXAMPLE BELOW: How to find what shutter/aperture you shot your image at.
What you'll be graded on...Learning Objective: Students will demonstrate understanding of compositing together images into a panorama by participating in a demo, analyzing their photo shoot for possible images, and then applying the techniques to their own photos. Google Slide Learning Objective: Students will explore the internet and collect images that inspire them as part of the creative process for the Reflection Mirror Photography Assignment Part 1: Reflection Google Slide Research In google slides, find 12+ images that you find inspiring for your own reflection assignment. Write a small note regarding WHAT it is that you like about that image. Milestone Deadline for Google Slide Research: Tuesday, March 6th If the Google slides are not turned in on time, 30% will be deducted. Grace period does not apply for this in-class assignment. Learning Objective: Students will complete 3 different Photoshop editing tutorials of their choice that relate to portrait photography. Students will write a written reflection about their process and display their proficiency by creating a "before" and "after" photo. While the studio can only have one group at a time, you will work on completing THREE photoshop tutorials of your choice that relate to portrait photography. DUE DATES:
REQUIREMENT: You must do ONE tutorial that is based on skin re-touching. The other TWO tutorials are you choice. Some ideas of tutorials you could search for and do:
Download this Google form and fill it out reflecting on your tutorials HERE.You will turn in this filled out Google form, as well as your tutorial results in Google classroom. EACH tutorial will be worth 20 points. That's 60 points total for all three! Trust me, you don't want a zero on this. Take your own photos to edit.Depending on the tutorial you plan to complete, you will need to take a photo to work with. Work with a high quality image that is taken with the DSLR cameras NOT a phone image. You can take a photo of a friend or have someone take a photo of yourself for these tutorials. Make sure the lighting is good, I suggest going outside!
